Exam wrappers foster metacognition in students (i.e. getting to think about how they learn best and what factors are influencing their academic performance) - use of exam wrappers are frequently cited by researchers as an example of effective metacognition in schools.
It is widely accepted that the use of exam wrappers is “best practice”, yet there are very few available online and those that exist are often for university students and not suitable for younger people. These wrappers are designed for students aged 14-18 (KS4 & KS5) - and are designed to be fast, fun, and engaging.
This download comprises all five of our exam wrappers, buying them in this bundle saves money and the variety of exam wrappers will help students to engage in a broader array of metacognitive reflection activities and help maintain engagement.

Metacognitive exit tickets are quick metacognitive reflection tasks your students (11-16) can do at the end of lessons. This download includes ten printable exit ticket designs in five engaging formats.
These colourful, double-sided, printables are a simple way to foster metacognition and self-regulated learning behaviours in your students. Reflections are focused on:
Target setting
Strengths/weakness analysis
Learning-strategy analysis and regulation
Self-evaluation of learning performance
Metacognition is generally understood in cyclical terms: it involves planning, monitoring, regulating and evaluating thoughts, thinking and learning strategies. This resource focuses on the evaluation and regulation aspect of the metacognitive cycle.
Using this resource is easy: simply give your students a ticket each at the end of the lesson - students must complete the ticket before they are allowed to leave!
This interactive PowerPoint uses a variety of activities to encourage student reflection and establish clear goals and targets.
This resource is ideal for quick target-setting activites in lessons or for structuring multiple target-setting sessions. The PowerPoint can be used multiple times with the same groups and encourages students to reflect on targets relating to: work quality, learning power, attitude to learning, subject knowledge, study-skills and long-term strategy.
The download includes both an editable file and an automated PowerPoint Show (recommended). The PowerPoint uses an integrated interactive menu that allows you to choose between thirty different activity slides (each with 3-4 activities).

At the start of each term these worksheets encourage students to reflect on how the previous term went, how they have prepared for the new term, how they can improve their learning strategies, and how they can plan for success in the new term - anticipating challenges ahead.
The mid-term reflection worksheets encourage students to monitor progress, evaluate current approaches to learning, identify obstacles and reflect on how to overcome them, and anticipate the requirements of end-of-term assessments.
